Parks and Recreation

Now its sixth season Parks and recreation is considered one of the funniest shows on television, as it has gotten better with every passing year.

To give a little background on the show, Amy Poeler plays the main character, Leslie Knope, a passionate, dedicated deputy in the parks department of Pawnee, Indiana. Knope is constantly making aspirations to improve the small town but has little to no help from her lazy and uncaring co-workers.

The first season only lasted six episodes and was not expected to go much further. However, NBC made the investment to sign them for another season. An investment that has strongly paid off. In seasons one and two, the main conflict in the show is getting a ditch filled so she can then make it into a park. Initially, Knope gets no where, getting no help from her office and having higher political figures turn her away. However, the persistent fun loving character that Poeler plays, doesn't give up for anything. When the ditch gets filled, the series starts to soar.

Once Knope achieves one accomplishment, her confidence starts to rise while inspiring her co-workers through various activities like camping trips and festivals, as they start to rally around her. What really starts make the successful was the addition of Rob Lowe, who plays the new city manager Chris Trager and Adam Scott, who plays Tragers head accountant, Ben Wyatt.

At first Knope and Wyatt bump heads, but eventually learn to work together under the leadership of Trager. With the addition of these two characters it now gives Knope some influence in the parks department as she is able to branch out and create more resources. The audience now finds its self rooting for Knope, compared to before hand it felt like every decision she made was going to fail.

However what makes this show truly hilarious is the different assortment of characters and personalties  that make the show so lovable. Stand up comedian Aziz Ansari, plays Tom Haverford a character that likes to be on everyone's good side while creating get rich quick schemes. Aubrey Plaza, who plays April provides the dark humor. As hateful she is, she finds her counterpart Andy Dwyer, played by Chris Pratt, who is a fun loving musician. The two eventually fall in love. Finally Ron Swanson, played by Nick Offerman, provides the serious humor. He rarely smiles and hates the government. But his posture and facial expressions are simply hilarious.

Half way through its sixth season, the show got re-signed for a seventh and possibly an eighth. Amy Poehler was nominated for a golden globe was lead actress in a comedy series. This hilarious, witty clever show appeals to all audiences and all six seasons can be watched on Netflix.
