Juno

During these snow storms we've been having I was able to watch some great films! One film that I watched is a classic film that I have seen quite a few times and I still love it every time I see it.  Juno (2007), was written by Diablo Cody and directed by Jason Reitman. Juno is a narrative film about an "offbeat" teenage girl, Juno, who is faced with an unplanned pregnancy.  The film is told over the course of the four seasons, beginning in Autumn when Juno finds out that she is pregnant after one night in a chair withe her best friend Paulie Bleeker.  The beginning of the movie Juno thinks that she has everything planned out on how she is going to handle the pregnancy and that her dad and step-mother will never has to know, that is until one scene in the movie that changes everything over fingernails. When Juno arrives at the abortion clinic we assume that she is going to abort the child. Sue Chin, her friend from school is picketing outside the clinic and tells her that Juno's unborn child has fingernails. Jumping to the next scene Juno is sitting filling out paper work but she cant focus because she is focused in on the women in the waiting rooms fingernails. Juno then runs out of the waiting room and we hear Sue Chin yelling at Juno that her baby will thank her.

This film was very entertaining and if anyone hasn't seen it I suggest that you do. Not only will it make you feel good and give you good laugh, it also is very meaningful. It shows a young teenager dealing with her pregnancy in a responsible appropriate way along with the support of her friends and family.

All in all its a really great film to watch on a snowy day!

  1. A notable aspect of Juno, I think, is the soundtrack-- in so far as it not only sets the mood of the film as a whole, but aids in the development of the protagonist as well. Most of it was done by Kimya Dawson, who I actually enjoy as a singer-- particularly in the duo The Uncluded.
